Exercise is Overrated

The general consensus on exercise is that it is a very good activity. Of course it is. But you can try to search online for benefits of exercise. You will get lots of generic information such as prevention of weight gain, combatting health conditions and diseases, lowering risk of cardiovascular diseases, promoting better sleep, and so on. Is this really true? My take is... it's not false, but not really the case.

Exercise is a Luxury

We've all felt like we do not have time to exercise. There is just a lot of work to do and you cannot find the time to go to the gym. Some people find it hard to even do the exercise. Too heavy to do those jumping jacks. Too tired to do the lunges. Face it. Exercise is for those who are young or who can do it. To be able to exercise, you will already need to have a certain level of health, not to mention time on your hands. If you have the time but you do not have the strength for exercise, you will need to reduce the exercise difficulty to the point where you can do it, but that might be pointless if you reduce the difficulty to the point where you do not break any sweat.

End of the day, exercise is for those who already have the means to do it. And sure enough they will get the benefits such as getting the heart to pump. Getting that adrenaline rush. Building muscles in the gym. But if you are already having health problems, you need to solve them first before you are able to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.

Exercise is Not a Cure

Exercise will keep you healthy? Maybe. But exercise will make the unhealthy healthy? I don't think so. Health starts from the diet. You need to fix that first, and then you start to exercise. The exercise you do will be proof that your body is young enough or your health level is adequate. I do not think that exercise alone is the cure for sickness and health problems. Even being overweight. Get an obese person to jog. He can jog for miles and remain obese. Or... he will not be able to jog for even 500 meters!

But Somebody Exercised and Got Slim!

Yep. I have heard that before. But the fact that they exercised and got slim does not necessarily attribute the weight loss to the exercise. I beg to differ. This type of people are often healthy enough to exercise in the first place, and they have a case of water retention. Exercising and sweating a lot, together with drinking a lot of plain water, which is part of exercising, are what helped the person slim down. As the body acquires enough water, it will stop retaining any extra water, thus slimming the person down. This is something I myself experienced as well. Water is the key, and I have laid it out in my ebook Great Health Secrets.

Conclusion and Other Concerns

Overexertion during exercise is also harmful to a person's wellbeing. Sometimes you feel miserable that you are not making any gains through your exercise. You go on the treadmill for weeks and your health and weight remain the same, so you step it up. But little do you realize that you have been barking up the wrong tree, that exercise is not the cure but instead acts as a benchmark. But it has been hyped as the means to a healthy life, which is just half right, which is why I say that exercise is overrated.
